A cool, cloudy day..woke up to ” the lonesome sound of a train passing by”..

Looking like Fall

Went to the “Gingerbread House”..former home of Mr.Plog, caretaker of Springwood for FDR.

Now used as station for NPS Rangers. Getting a much needed facelift…the house, not the Rangers 😉

My buddy, Paul, was there..yay..he will be doing tours until end of October. Had time to catch up. Paul was the guy who gave me feedback on the first tour that I led last year. Super nice man.

Then…small world…met another volunteer Ranger from Raleigh NC. She has an RV and has been here all summer. A connection for sure.

Fog over the Hudson River Valley

Sharing my morning walk..Beautiful Huskies. I first saw then from far away and in the fog, i thought..small ponies??

FDR Presidential Library where I will be serving as a Docent

In the afternoon, I followed Paul as he lead a tour of Springwood…50+ folks..

The tour began in the Henry Wallace Center, gathering around a mosaic of this area.

We then proceeded across the grounds (about 1/4 mile), in a pouring rain, not stopping until we reached the covered porch at Springwood. Then really dark, strong winds and we heard thunder.

So quickly inside the house and we heard 3 tornado warnings. Thinking.. hallway or interior room for 50.

Then the group behind us (another 50) came inside.

So we had about 100 folks seeking shelter. But all was fine..no tornado..just very wet on walk back across grounds.

(Apparently we are still under tornado watch)

Now a steady rain is falling.
