I am happy to be back at the FDR Hstoric Site in Hyde Park NY.
Cloudy morning in the 60s. Nice for morning walk around Springwood, Home of FDR.

Springwood today

Springwood before 1915 remodeling

View of Hudson River Valley from South lawn at Springwood.

Down the Driveway at Springwood to Albany Post Road. Part of my daily walk.

Original gates at Entrance to Springwood brought from Mt Hope, home of James Roosevelt, FDR’s father.

Gravesite in Rose Garden

Scene of funeral, April 15, 1945

Rose Garden..not as many in bloom as last year

First hint of Fall

Talked to one of my Park Ranger friends and asked about others.
Paul is now working entirely with Archives in the FDR Presidential Library so I will catch up with him.
Victor, who was an awesome mentor to me, is no longer working..very disappointing.
Did not make it today to Val-Kill to see Doris Mack, 96 year old volunteer. Very special lady. Will see her next Monday. Doris with Mrs. Roosevelt

I know how much you love it — and small wonder. Enjoy the days ahead. Asta

So… you start your 2nd phase! So sad that Vi tor is no longer there. Perhaps a weekend visit? I’m sure there will be some new people and new adventures. Interesting gravesite pictures. It looks like they are buried crosswise to the headstone . Have fun.
Ah yes…your birthday gift arrived! No, you have to wait. 🙂

The gravesites are arranged so that FDR (the one with flag at the hear) is facing East..toward a new day..purposely planned by Mr Plog, long time groundskeeper

I will try to call him and see if we could meet.
Crazy, bureaucratic mess reason he is not here. what a loss for visitors..30 years experience…
